Science and the Olympics

Ms. Goode's 7th and 8th grade Science Classes participated in a week of experiencing the science behind ski jumping with Mrs. Harrison, the Tech Coordinator.

NBC and the National Science Foundation partnered and made 16 videos of various Olympic Sports and the science behind each one. The classes found out what makes a great ski jumper by watching the video and participating in 2 "hands-on" projects. The first was making a ski jump and testing coins rolling down it and the second was designing a rocket that would "fly through the air". The students also watched the science of "curling" and learned about kinetic energy. A good time was had by all!
